Pre-School Week

The St Pius X Pre-School (Kindergarten) was the initiative of two Philippina Columban Lay Missionaries Jennifer Chan and Cynthia Empleo and Teacher Savaira Mow with a few others who have moved on since that year 2000. Teacher Alosia Tugaga joined in 2005 who is still assistant with Ms Savaira Mow running the Pre-School.

Currently there are 49 students on the roll with both morning and afternoon sessions. The children are from different denominations, race and backgrounds.

This year the Pre –School week was organized to create awareness in the community on what Pre-school Teachers and children do in the school, and to show parents the creativity and talents of their children and to create children’s interest in  their Early Pre-School days.

The St Pre-School Week commenced with a March from the Flea Market to Sukuna Park where all Pre-Schools from the Greater Suva Area gathered for the official opening 0n the 30th July 2016.

During the Pre-School the Teachers here in St Pius’s invited the Police, Dietician, Dentist, Nurses and Firemen to come and talk to the children on their role in the community.

The week ended with a Tea Party, entertainment by the pupils for their Parents, Friends, Teachers and the National Fire Authority officials. We would like to thank the Parish Priest Fr. John McEvoy and Kelemete Rausuvanua, Parish Co-coordinator for their continuous support and for gracing the Pre-School with their presence so often.
